The ruins demonstrate the political, religious and social significance of the Forum in ancient times.
One of Rome’s most recognisable monuments of is Il Vittoriano; built in 1885 to honour King Victor Emmanuel II. This extraordinary marble structure is colloquially called the “Wedding Cake” by locals.
Not far from here is the Quirinal Palace, the official residence of the current Italian President.
The tour will move next to the renowned Trevi Fountain, a great example of the beauty of the Baroque period.
You will join the crowds at the Spanish Steps, wander to Piazza Navona where you can see Bernini’s great ‘Fountain of the Four Rivers’
and then you will stroll through the winding streets to the Pantheon, in Piazza della Rotunda.
