Itinerary and highlights
Our journey begins with a transfer from Rome or your preferred location, which will take you to the Monastery of Sant'Angelo in Formis, another hidden gem among the hills of Campania. This ancient monastery, which dates back to the 7th century, is known for its splendid church, decorated with frescoes depicting scenes from the life of St. Benedict. Our guide will tell you about the history of this sacred place, which has witnessed important religious events over the centuries. The xbv of the monastery, surrounded by nature, is ideal for a time of reflection and prayer.
We will continue our tour is the Sanctuary of Monte Vergine, located in the mountains overlooking the city of Avellino. This Marian shrine, dating back to the 12th century, is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and attracts numerous pilgrims every year. Here you will be able to admire not only the majesty of the religious building, but also the breathtaking view offered by the mountaintop. Your guide will take you through the history of the shrine and its traditions, also telling you about the legends surrounding it and the spiritual significance of this place of worship.
The last stop on our tour is the Abbey of Montecassino. Founded by St. Benedict of Norcia in 529 AD, the abbey has a history rooted in early Christianity and has become a symbol of Benedictine spirituality. The tour includes the abbey church, rebuilt after the devastation of World War II, and the museum, where you can admire ancient manuscripts, sacred art, and historical artifacts. Your expert guide will lead you through the architectural and spiritual wonders of this place, which is still a center of prayer and meditation.
