Full-Day Rome to Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio Private Tour

About this experience

Depart from Rome to reach Orvieto, an ancient Etruscan city, which stands on an enormous tufaceous platform. You will visit St. Patrick well, built by Pope Clement VII in 1529 to ensure a water supply to the city in the event of a siege and, afterwards, you will reach the bright Piazza del Duomo to admire one of the most grandiose medieval architectural achievements in Italy, the Cathedral of S. Maria Assunta, with its enchanting facade. Civita di Bagnoregio, called the dying City, is a charming village clinging to a spur of tufaceous rock dominating the beautiful valley of the badlands. Linked to the world only by a long and narrow bridge, it holds a tuft of medieval houses and a population of very few families. You will have time for lunch ( at your own expense ) during the day.

Itinerary and highlights

Discover Orvieto, a city with an enormous historical and artistic heritage. A "museum" city that has lived through different age periods: in particular in the Etruscan and medieval periods, has represented a center of considerable historical and cultural value throughout Italy. A city of art with almost three thousand years of history that will conquer and fascinate you,

Symbol of the city of Orvieto, the Cathedral is one of the most beautiful Duomos in Italy. The start of its construction is dated in 1290. The Cathedral has one of the most impressive and sought after façades. Inside the chapel of San Brizio and that of the Corporal stand out.

The Well is a wonder of Renaissance engineering of the city of Orvieto. A mysterious place that fascinates for its legends and for its ingenious architectural structure created by Sangallo the Younger at the behest of Pope Clement VII.

Civita di Banoregio is also called "the dying city". It is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and every year it is visited by hundreds of thousands of people who come from all over the world to admire its timeless appearance and the magical atmosphere that can be perceived walking through its narrow alleys.
