About this experience
The Vatican Museums are home to some of the greatest masterpieces ever created, collected by generations of Popes over more than 500 years. As you walk through the museums, you are surrounded by ancient Roman and Egyptian artifacts, Renaissance paintings, sculptures, magnificent halls, and centuries of history.
The Sistine Chapel is the highlight for many visitors. Its ceiling was painted by Michelangelo, including the world-famous The Creation of Adam. Michelangelo later created The Last Judgment on the chapel’s altar wall.
But the Sistine Chapel is more than a masterpiece of Renaissance art. It is a sacred place and the traditional site of the Papal Conclave, where Cardinals gather to elect a new Pope.
What makes the experience truly unique is standing inside a place where great artists, powerful historical figures, and generations of religious leaders have shaped history. It is a rare opportunity to experience more than 500 years of art and history in the heart of Vatican City.
